ABOUT ABOUT

Our March offering opens with Arnold Schoenburg’s haunting tone poem on the theme of redemption and forgiveness, “Verklärte Nacht.” Remember Downton Abbey’s Mr Carson singing a snippet of “Dashing Away"? Come hear the rest of it as part of John Rutter’s English folktune inspired “Suite for Strings,” followed by two other charming folksong based pieces, Johann Svendson’s “Norwegian Folksong and Vasily Kalinnikov’s “Serenade.” The final two pieces on the program – Alan Hovhaness’s "Alleluia and Fugue" and Juan Bautista Plaza’s lively "Fuga Criolla" bring an old form new life.
